Privacy Policy
What Limerse collects, why we use it, and the choices you have.
Effective date: September 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to limerse.com and the interactive textbooks, lessons, accounts, and related services provided by Limerse. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not provide personal information or create an account.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. We collect your email address when you request an invite, ask to be notified about a book, request a sign-in link, or create an account. If you send feedback, we collect the message and any name or email address you choose to include.
Account information. An account contains your email address, an internal user identifier, and, if you choose Google sign-in when it is available, the identifier Google provides for authentication. Limerse does not receive your Google password.
Learning progress. Limerse records lesson progress, such as lessons visited, elements viewed, practice attempted, completion status, and the place where you stopped. Before sign-in this is kept in your browser. If you sign in, it can be synchronized to your account so it follows you across devices.
Anonymous lesson usage. To see which lessons are used and where readers stop, each time a lesson is opened Limerse records how far that visit scrolled, roughly how long it was active, whether practice was tried, and whether the lesson was finished, along with whether the visitor was signed in. Each visit gets a random number that exists only while the page is open; it is not stored in a cookie or in your browser, so one visit cannot be linked to another or to you. Browsers that send Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track send none of this.
Technical information. Our systems and service providers may process request information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, timestamps, referring page, and security events. When you join the waitlist, submit feedback, or start a session, Limerse may store a shortened user-agent string for security and troubleshooting.
2. Cookies and browser storage
Limerse currently uses no advertising or analytics cookies. It uses the following first-party cookies to provide features you request:
- Invite access:
lf_accessremembers that the browser used a valid invite for up to 90 days. - Account session:
lf_sessionkeeps a signed-in account active for up to 30 days. - Preview access:
lf_previewenables an authorized preview for up to 30 days. - Sign-in security: short-lived cookies may preserve a secure authentication attempt while it completes.
Limerse also uses browser storage for lesson progress and choices such as theme, captions, narration audio, and self-check responses. This information stays in that browser unless a signed-in progress feature synchronizes it to your account. You can remove it through your browser settings, but doing so resets those choices and local progress.
3. How we use information
- Provide invitations, authentication, accounts, saved progress, and book notifications.
- Operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot Limerse.
- Respond to feedback, support requests, privacy requests, and other communications.
- Improve the content and experience using feedback and aggregated operational information.
- Comply with law and protect Limerse, its users, and others from misuse or harm.
4. Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers only as needed to operate Limerse. Cloudflare provides hosting, security, delivery, and database infrastructure. Resend delivers transactional email. Google processes authentication if you choose Google sign-in when that option is configured. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale involving Limerse. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Retention
We keep information only while it is reasonably needed for the purposes described above. Account and synchronized progress data are generally kept while the account remains active. Waitlist and book-interest records are kept until their purpose is fulfilled, you ask us to delete them, or they are no longer operationally useful. Feedback is kept while needed to respond and improve the service. Authentication and invitation records may be retained after expiration for security, abuse prevention, and operational records.
Cookie durations are listed above. Browser-stored preferences and progress remain until you clear site data or reset them. Infrastructure logs are retained according to our service configuration and providers’ applicable retention periods.
6. Your choices and rights
You may use supported browser controls to clear Limerse cookies and browser storage. You may also ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information associated with you, or object to certain processing where applicable. To make a request, email hello@limerse.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing it.
Privacy rights vary by location. California and European residents may have additional rights under applicable law. Limerse will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
7. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections, hashed session and one-time-link identifiers, and restricted administrative access. No system is completely secure. Limerse and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, subject to applicable safeguards.
8. Children
Limerse accounts are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Limerse changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to hello@limerse.com.
